Inside the mind of a Blogger
Hello Readers, how are you. Today I am going to take another approach at how I post and what I post on my blog. Today I am going to tell you what I think as a person who writes a blog. Along with that I will also give some tips on how to maintain a blog so that you can maximize traffic.
I am going to do this in addition to what I already do. I will continue writing the stories that I do, so you can still read that.
First of all I would like to tell you that I consider my blog to be quite successful. To be precise I have got sixty two thousand and forty eight views on this blog, and that isn't very bad. Its good enough.
When I started blogging it was just so that I could improve my English. I as an IGCSE student wanted to improve my English skills which were very bad at the time I started and it is evident in my first ever posts. Even now my skills are not as good as other qualified bloggers but guess what, its is improving. I take no shame in admitting that some of my posts are trash and I assure you that I am going to revise them and make them better.
Now, as I was progressing, blogging got over me. I began to find ways of how I could maximize my incoming traffic. I read several articles and blog posts online and came to one conclusion - To write a successful blog you have to be regular. So from that time I tried to be as regular as I could. I wrote at least three posts in a week but when my exams approached I had to stop. I took leaves when my exams were on and then started blogging again as the ended. I tried to compensate for the leaves by posting very frequently after the exams and I regret it now.
I should have saved the write ups for later use. I should have continued how I used to do it, three times a week. If I would have done that I would have had a stockpile of ready and finely finished articles when my exams approached and I would not have had to take leaves during my exams. This affected my traffic because people would be less likely to check my blog frequently if they think that I post in long installments.
Another thing I learned was that to have people come and read your blog your content needs to be qualitative. It means that instead of writing ten posts a week that are average, it would be better to write five posts a week that are good and finely polished. This will increase traffic as people are more likely to give good reviews.
As I applied what I had learnt the views on my blog skyrocketed. They went from ten thousand to forty thousand in just two weeks. All exited about this I decided I would change the layout of my blog so that it is easier for readers to access what I write. So I created links on the panel on the left of the home screen that took you to the compilations of the series' that I have been writing. Along with that I started to diversify on what I wrote. I wrote stories of many different genres.
I admit now that as my blog was being read by more and more people around the world I got a bit egoistic. I started writing more and more trash thinking that people would read it anyway, but I was wrong.
Over time I realized that the traffic coming to my blog daily was decreasing. That was when I learnt that not even the best writers can churn out perfect literary pieces like a factory. Everyone has to proofread what they have written and there are mistakes in each and every piece written by anyone. You can always find mistakes in what you have written.
By the time I had reached to this stage I had my board exams very near so I had to completely stop writing. After stopping this time I am directly writing now. There has been a drastic change in what I think is blogging now.
In a nutshell, to maintain and boast a successful blog you need to be -
1 - Punctual in posting
2 - Write Quality material and
3 - Proofread what you write
Now as I compare my previous posts and what I post now I see a massive change in my quality of writing and I hope that I keep improving.
