Stranded on the Moon

Hello Readers. Today I decided that I would write something impromptu. No furnishing, no proof checking, just the real me. I will write whatever comes into my mind first and develop a story out of it. I'll not even read it again, as soon as I finish writing it I'll hit the 'Publish' button on my blogger screen. Enjoy reading it, and comment below if you like it.

Stranded on the Moon

After the space craft with the 120 people crew and equipment for the construction of the moon base landed my days of glory started. I had been working on the project for more than 5 years. Once I heard of the idea, there was no stopping me. The idea of a moon base and them a colony on moon was something I liked so much that even when I was still in high school I had started working on it.

I started researching and by the time I had graduated I knew everything I needed to know. That was when I started working on it, doing a part-time too for some finance. I started making designs for how the equipment should be. I gathered some old colleagues who were also interested in the idea. Together we financed and run the project for 3 years. We made models of spaceships, vacuum tents and tested them and when we thought that the project had gathered enough momentum, we started searching for investors. After some searching we convinced a private space company to invest in our project. After this happened we started making the actual prototypes of the spaceship, rovers and other equipment.

Things started accelerating after this. We quickly launched the moon satellite to monitor the surface of the moon and within no time the actual crew. The space ship took 3 days to reach and when it landed I and my project was all over the news. I gave several interviews, interviewing me about how I feel about the success of the project. I was on cloud 9, too ecstatic to know that my crew was going to face severe trouble there.

All was going smooth until day 2 after landing on the moon. The crew had set up the temporary base and were doing research of the moon when the moon came in the way if a gamma ray burst. Gamma ray bursts are sudden bursts of radioactive waves emitted when two stars of very high mass collide to form a neutron star or a black-holes. These are also emitted from superluminous supernova. The crew was on the other side of the moon so they were not directly affected by the GRB but the whole moon was full of radioactivity. GRB's are such rare events that we had not even considered that as a hazard while preparing the equipment. A GRB had never ever occurred in the milky way and never was detected in the solar system. It was just slightly more likely than the nearby galaxy coming soaring towards them.

The crew's moon monitoring satellite was directly in the path of the GRB so it just melted. The crew was stranded on the radioactive moon. On Earth I was overworking my workers to find a solution to get them out of there. If the crew died there then any of my future projects would be refuted by investors. This would become the worst disaster in the history of the space age. It would be very bad for my reputation. I had to fix the problem.

The crew said they were living in the encampments and that they are unable to go out because of the radioactivity. The radioactivity was leeching in the living quarters. The living quarters were the most protected places from radiation due to the thick concrete wall. The crew could not even get out of the living quarters. They would run out of food soon. We had to launch a rescue mission in order to save them.

So readers while reading I have realized that the story in my mind is lengthy and I will not be able to finish it in one post. So I have decided I would post it in parts. Don't worry, it will still be impromptu. Yes! The whole series will be impromptu. Good luck reading it.
